All big trucks are equipped with differential locks. Most vehicles only have a differential lock for the front rear axle. A differential is designed for the two wheels to spin at different speeds; thus, differential speeds. And often, the power is supply to the wheel with the least resistance.
If one wheel become elevated that wheel will spin--and as in the case presented in the video--not have traction, and thus the vehicle doesn't move.
Simply engage the differential lock to regain traction and the vehicle will move.
DO NOT ENGAGE THE DIFF LOCK WHILE THE WHEELS ARE SPINNING!!
If there are two differential locks and an inter-axle lock--as on Western Star truck--this will cause all 4 sets of duals on the rear of the truck to lock and spin at the same rate. When engaged, drive at low speeds - see owner's manual for best information.
In the video game Euro Truck Simulator 2, they've added a differential lock - if you're unsure what a differential lock is, this video will explain how that works. The differential lock is often shortened to "diff lock".
