The Australian's Editor-At-Large Paul Kelly says the response of Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese to Kimberley Kitching's allegations of bullying is "completely inappropriate".
"I think it distinctly lacks empathy given the sensitive nature of this issue," Mr Kelly told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
"Some of the things he said are plain wrong, in particular the claim that the media's at fault, the implication being some of these stories shouldn't have been published.
"This is an extraordinary claim to make."
Senators Penny Wong, Katy Gallagher and Kristina Keneally have all said that they do not agree with the assertions.
