While studying composition, I soon became very impressed with the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, whom I still consider to be one of the greatest composers of all time. This is my first composition for orchestra, which I wrote under the excellent supervision of my teacher Hans Kox. In 1996, it was arranged for wind orchestra by Frans Scheepers.

Years later, I wrote a violin concerto for Emmy Verhey, who gave a superb performance with the Dutch Brabant Orchestra, conducted by Marc Soustrot. It can be heard here:
