Saudi Arabia's non-resident ambassador to Palestine, Nayef al-Sudairi, cancelled his scheduled visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday.
Some Palestinians on social media had objected to Sudairi's planned visit and called for the Saudi delegation to be prevented from entering the mosque, saying that they viewed the visit as validating the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, who revealed the details surrounding the cancellation, Sudairi still plans to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque at a later date.
