STORYLINE:
Palestinian doctors said four people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on southern Gaza on Thursday as diplomatic efforts increase to secure aid deliveries and another cease-fire.
Health authorities said bodies of those killed in the attack, including Kerem Shalom crossing boss, Colonel Salah Ghaben, were taken to the morgues at Abu Yousef Al Najjar hospital in Rafah.
In response to the incident, the U.N.’s agency for Palestinian refugees said it was suspending aid operation at the crossing.
Trucks carrying fuel and humanitarian were waiting to enter Gaza on Thursday.
Israel carried out more strikes and other operations across Gaza, but a territory-wide communications outage made it difficult to confirm details about the fighting.
Nearly 20-thousand Palestinians have been killed since Israel declared war on Hamas, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza, which does not differentiate between civilian and combatant deaths.
Israel says more than 130 of its soldiers have died in its ground offensive after Hamas raided southern Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and taking about 240 hostages.
