The Airbus Corporate Foundation took only two days to respond to a United Nations (UN) appeal for private companies to provide logistical help in delivering aid to people in the famine blighted areas of southeast Africa. A flight test crew left Toulouse on Wednesday 27 July on board an A340 to collect 36 tonnes of dried food from Bergen, Norway, to be delivered to Nairobi, Kenya, the next day. The final stage of the journey to one of the worst affected areas of neighbouring Somalia was by road.
