Kandovan is an ancient village in Sahand Rural District in Osku County, East Azerbaijan Province, northwestern Iran. It is situated in the foothills of Mount Sahand. It is very similar to Cappadocia in Turkey. You will be amazed with the natural architecture of the homes carved inside rocks, some of them 700 years old. Kandovan village is said to have been partially formed by volcanic remains from a strong Mount Sahand eruptions hundreds of years ago.
