Calculate the total average speed from distant time graphs along with the average speed between any two points on the graph. Each of these three digital or printable graphs has 10 segments that can be analyzed. You can also use these graphs to expand on many more aspects of the HS-PS2-1 or MS-PS2-2 standards.

Each graph has an accompanying slide for calculating the total average speed for the entire graph plus two extra calculations using different points. Students look at each segment and determine the distance traveled and enter it on the chart. They then add up the total distance and divide by the total time(19 sec) to determine the total average speed. The next step involves finding the distance between two given times to calculate average speeds. Answer sheets are included.
