Another blue bird day in Haines, Alaska. Took a walk on the "Dog Beach:" a beach trail that allows great views of the Alaska Range that follows Southeast Alaska North and eventually towards Alyeska. Mount Ripinski is to the Northeast.
The water is the mouth of the Chilkat River that empties into the Lynn Canal that heads to Juneau, AK, 90 miles south of Haines. The small island in the middle of the channel is the break between the river and Lynn Canal. This island is known as Pyramid Island due to its shape. Over a century ago, this area had salmon canneries, one known as the Pyramid Harbor Cannery.
Weather was a little cold today: 22° F with a slight breeze from the North. Definitely required gloves and wind resistant clothes.
Shot on a Mavic Air 2 at 1080p. Attempted some over water flight. Did not make too much water coverage, mainly due to the wind. Did a straight up shot with the ice flows was nice.
Only main issue was that I walked with the drone for its flight North, when suddenly the battery was about to die and the drone wanted to return to its home... which was about a quarter mile away. Had to cancel homebound and find a safe place to land on the beach, sand and small rocks are not good for the propeller engines.
Hope you enjoy it.
