Day 2 of the Hanoi trip itinerary:-
Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, located in Hanoi, Vietnam, is the final resting place of Vietnamese revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh. The mausoleum was built in the late 1960s and completed in 1975, marking the end of the Vietnam War and Ho Chi Minh's victory over American forces. The building is made of gray granite and features a rectangular shape with wide steps leading up to the main entrance. The interior displays Ho Chi Minh's preserved body in a glass case, surrounded by flowers and other offerings. The mausoleum is a popular tourist attraction in Vietnam and is open daily to visitors. Visitors are required to dress modestly and remain silent while inside. Photography is not allowed.
2. Hanoi Railway Street, also known as "Train Street," is a narrow alley in Hanoi that is located between the tracks of the railway line. The street is a popular tourist attraction as visitors can stand just inches away from passing trains as they make their way down the tracks.
The street is only 300 meters long and is located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. It was originally created in the 19th century as a service alley for the local residents, but over time, cafes and shops began to appear along the street.
The best time to visit Hanoi Railway Street is in the late afternoon when the train passes through the street twice a day. The train schedule is irregular, so it is best to check with the locals or a travel agency to determine the exact times.
Visitors can enjoy a coffee or a beer at one of the cafes along the street and watch the trains pass by. It is important to note that visitors need to be cautious and listen to the train's whistle as it approaches, as the space between the train and the buildings is very narrow.
In recent years, there have been concerns over the safety of the street, as it has become increasingly popular with tourists. In 2019, the government ordered the cafes and shops along the street to close, but they have since reopened, with stricter safety measures in place.
