Abstract: Research shows how human perception can be affected by several factors, hindering the cognitive flow of user reasoning and consequently how the user derives a choice of direction as an outcome. Among these factors, trust remains a challenge in visualization design due to the limited evidence regarding what might lead a user to trust in visualization without a broad elaboration of the information. To better understand the trust-building process, we conducted two studies focused on visualization trustworthiness to investigate whether graphical features of a chart affect the user's perception of how trustworthy a graph is. Additionally, we leverage personality constructs to understand whether the trust processes are dependent on personality factors and enhance the user profile of the decision-maker.
