For the July/August 2013 release of Snot Rod with flames, there is variation with the color of his flames. Some variants of snot Rod have the flames painted with bright yellowish - orange color while others are not painted and are just clear orange.
There is no way to tell how this variation can be attained. In a recent visit to Toys R Us, I say the Snot Rod with flames and clear flames.
I purchased the painted flames variation from Wal Mart.
