How to merge layers - Follow these steps:

- click on the 'image' tab
- click on 'merge visible layers'
- check 'discard invisible layers' to remove all invisible layers after merging

- you have the following options:

- 'expanded as necessary' means the merged result of layers will be as large to contain all of the merged layers (layers can be larger than the image)

- 'clipped to image' means the merged result of layers will be as large as the image is (anything outside the image size will be cropped away)

- 'clipped to bottom layer' means the merged result of layers will be as large as the bottom layer is (anything bigger than the bottom layer will be cropped away)
