This is probably the closest an indie game has ever come to capturing the magic of some of the greatest retro JRPGs ever made. If I had to fabricate a nitpick about this game it would be that in successfully emulating some of the best things about those older games Chained Echoes itself doesn't come off as too original for anybody who has played all of those older games. It is still a great game worth playing for fans of JRPGs though.
