Lax anti-logging laws could be fuelling the increase in destruction of the country's forests. The task force on logging and management of forests in the country says, since 2016, illegal logging and charcoal has been treated as a petty crime, attracting fines of not more than one hundred thousand shillings or prison sentences of not more than six months.
