Capturing motion can be done in many ways and in this video photographer Gavin Hoey will share his secrets for two very different looks, each using flash.
Gavin starts off with the classic use of flash to freeze movement. He takes you step by step through the process from controlling the light to freezing the action. After that, he steps things up a gear and moves on the showing movement with blur. As you watch along, Gavin will cover everything you need from using a long exposure with ambient light, mixing in flash, and finally the advantage of rear or 2nd curtain sync flash.
Even with the limited space of his small home studio, you’ll be surprised at just what’s possible when you mix flash, LED lights, and motion together.
