Take a hike into Goethe State Forest and experience an ancient Cypress Tree over 900 years old! Here along the Big Cypress Boardwalk Trail it’s a great place to experience nature and beautiful trees such as this one known as The Goethe Giant. It’s been standing here for centuries and it’s amazing to still see it here. Hopefully it will for generations to come as well. In the past Florida was covered with old growth Cypress and unfortunately was logged out. It’s a treat to find these big trees still standing. There are many recreational activities and places to roam within Goethe State Forest. It’s a vast wilderness named after J.T. Goethe at one time who once owned the land.
