In this is video, I recorded my partner, Dan, polishing the edges of a double leather money belt, on a Cobra MP variable speed power edge burnisher.
The machine is produced and sold by the Leather Machine Company, in California. It has a Cocobolo wood, multi-width leather burnisher on one end and a medium-fine grit sanding cylinder at the other. We can burnish anything up to 1 inch wide on this machine.
A coat of gum tragacanth, followed by a coat of Fiebing's black Edge Dye was applied and pulled through a denim cloth. The burnisher sealed them into the leather.
I sewed the belt on a combination of my Cowboy CB4500 heavy leather stitcher and a long body Singer 139w101 walking foot machine, using #69 thread for the zipper and beaded strip, and #207 thread to sew the edges of the complete package.
The belt is made of bridle leather purchased from Thoroughbred Leather, in Louisville, Kentucky.
