On the three days of the week that the Cardinal operates, Charlottesville, VA is served by eight Amtrak trains a day. Two Regionals, the Crescent, and the Cardinal in each direction make up the eight that roll through on those days, with just six trains each way on the other four days of the week.
On this particular Sunday, I was able to catch seven of the eight Amtrak trains passing through the city. Cardinal #51 was the latest train of the group, arriving about 40 minutes down, with Crescent #20 being about 17 minutes late. All other trains were on time or within 5 minutes of schedule.
Trains are seen as follows:
Shamrock Road grade crossing: Amtrak trains 151, 20, and 156.
Charlottesville Station: Amtrak trains 51, 50, 66, and 145.
