Charity Shop Gold or Garbage? Christmas Train Set Remote Control PART #6 disassembly. After the previous episodes where I was happy to get it going I noticed the information on the box said it had light, sound and smoke effect so I decided to have another look. The sound was an easy fix, there was a switch on the other side of the train that I hadn't noticed. However I could find nothing about the smoke effect. I took it apart and eventually traced out the smoke effect components and I looked online to see if I could find a manual.
The box had no useful information but the train has the Goldlok name stamped on the bottom. I checked the Goldlok site and although they still supply several versions of this train they did not appear to have a downloadable manual. I then spotted a similar looking train kit by MOTA and on their site I was able to download the manual for that one and it does mention mineral oil for the smoke so I will have to see if I can get some.

I wasn't going to buy it until I saw it said £4.99 NOT WORKING and thought that could be a fairly interesting challenge. Worse case scenario was I could rig it up with simple on-off switches to operate the train motor direct.
