In this video lesson, you’ll practice making Simple Present Tense sentences.
The Simple Present Tense has two forms: the active form and the passive form.
Active forms:
I like, he likes
I do (not) like, he does (not) like.
The active form with ‘do’ and ‘does’ is used for negatives and questions.
EXAMPLE: Do you like sushi?
It is also used when we want to emphasize a statement.
EXAMPLE: Oh! I do like your new top! It really suits you.
It is used when the action is done to the subject and not by the subject.
EXAMPLE: More than 100 people are employed in this factory.
The Simple Present Tense is for actions which are habits or routine.
In addition, it is sometimes used for actions happening at the time of speaking. Also, it is used for some past and future actions.
