Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad also known as Aurangzeb Alamgir was the sixth Mughal emperor in the Indian history, who ruled over almost the entire Indian subcontinent for a period of 49 years. He is widely considered to be the last effective ruler of the Mughal Empire, Aurangzeb was a religious man as he compiled the Fatawa-e-Alamgiri, and was among the few monarchs to have fully established Sharia law and Islamic economics throughout the Indian subcontinent. Moreover, he was an accomplished military leader whose rule has been often praised due to his successful economic, political and military policies.
He greatly expanded Mughal Empire during his reign and it reached its greatest extent ruling over nearly all of the Indian subcontinent. Moreover, during his lifetime victories in the south expanded the Mughal Empire to 4 million square kilometers. At that time he got the opportunity to rule over a population estimated to be over 158 million people. Due to his effective economic policies, India surpassed Qing China to become the world's largest economy and biggest manufacturing power, worth nearly a quarter of global GDP and more than the entirety of Western Europe. Furthermore, its largest and wealthiest subdivision, the Bengal Subah signaled proto-industrialization.
Aurangzeb alamgir was known for his religious piety and he memorized the entire Quran .In addition to that ,he was a great scholar of hadiths and stringently observed the rituals of Islam. He was quite different from previous Mughal emperors as he considered the royal treasury to be held in trust for the citizens of his empire. Moreover, he never enjoyed a luxurious life and his personal expenses and constructions of small mosques were covered by his own earnings. His earnings came from sewing of caps and trade of his written copies of the Quran. He also patronized works of Islamic and Arabic calligraphy.
Aurangzeb alamgir also gave full freedom to the minorities as he allowed Hindus, Christians etc to construct their religious buildings. He also provided them full security.
