After the devastating floods in 2008 the team at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum has partially recovered and put together quite a consist for this year's Snow Train. So, into the car and up to North Freedom. AFTER depositing a contribution at the ticket counter it is off to the grounds and the assembly of the first Sunday afternoon train. It's not steam but at least #7 is a classic that doesn't sound like a truck. She sure has quite a range of audible repertoire.....Then it's off to the yard limit where it's suddenly peaceful and quiet. Birds twitter and in the clear winter air the horn of the engine down in the valley echoes for a long time. Finally, as a woopecker fiercely pecks the trees it comes into sight an pulls quite a string of cars up the hill out of the valley.
Down the line and into La Rue, where it seems a (MCRY?) Hy-Rail buzzes through the image before the last scene.
Sure glad things are somewhat back to normal.
