Searching for lawyer to represent you in your New York medical malpractice, accident case, negligence case or wrongful death case can be a daunting task. You may not know all the right questions to ask.
That's why you are going online looking for information about your particular matter and an attorney with experience to help you solve your legal problem.
One question you should be asking every lawyer you are considering is: "Who is going to be handling my case throughout the course of the litigation?"
"Which lawyer will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of my case from start to finish?"
If you do not ask this question, you may be surprised the first time you pick up the phone and call the law firm asking to speak to the attorney who you initially met with on the day you signed your retainer.
You may be shocked to learn that the lawyer that you met with is not the one who handles the day-to-day details of your case.
In addition, it would be helpful for you to know who is the attorney who is going to represent you at your deposition, also known as a question-and-answer session under oath or more formally known as an examination before trial.
You might also be thinking that the lawyer who represents you at your deposition is going to be the lawyer who handles your trial.
You might be shocked again to learn that the lawyer who's going to handle your trial may be different than the first lawyer you met at the firm or the lawyer who handles your case on daily basis or even the lawyer who represented you at your deposition.
For some law firms, the system works well. However, not all clients appreciate the multiple attorneys who handle a case like theirs. Instead, some clients want the comfort of knowing that one lawyer is handling their case from start to finish.
