Former AHRQ Director Carolyn Clancy, M.D., shows how hospitals across the country have adopted the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program, or CUSP, to create a culture of safety that improves patient safety and quality of care. Hospital intensive care units taking part in a national implementation of CUSP saw dramatic drops in healthcare-acquired infections. And an OB unit at a hospital in Michigan used CUSP tools to create a protocol to improve patient safety following childbirth.
