How to install double doors DIY properly.
1. Remove existing door & frame
2. Set a new frame. Ensure there is silicone under the sill to ensure weather-tight doors.
3. Use shims to make the frame square & plumb in the opening.
4. Pre-drill holes in the frame using a wood bit.
5. Drill holes for tapcons in the block wall with masonry bit.
6. Secure frame using tapcons. Ensure there are shims at every tapcon location to avoid frame warping (this will affect the swing & reveal of the door).
7. Install door slabs. Ensure swing & reveal are correct.
8. Fill any voids between the frame & block with foam, then caulk.
9. Cut & install casing on the interior. Cut & install brick mold on the exterior. Recommend an 18 gauge finish nailer for this task.
10. After inspection, use prefinished plugs or wood filler to fill holes in the frame.
