Hub 3 - Digitalisation
With the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19 in the world, the importance of availability and exchange of data to better predict, model, control and cure diseases has become even more evident than before. The session would give the opportunity to reflect on the level of preparedness of the EU for this health crisis, in terms of secure and interoperable exchange of health data, resilience of health systems and facilities, and the need for enhanced EU cooperation on making health data more available for better prevention and personalised treatment, also by speeding up the deployment of the European Health Data Space. The session would also touch upon the need to enhance research and deployment of AI, machine learning and data mining for better prevention and more effective health treatments.

European Research and Innovation Days is the European Commission’s annual flagship Research and Innovation event, bringing together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond.
