Arte TV's documentary about Lake Sevan National Park in Armenia.
Lake Sevan, Armenia's largest freshwater lake, lies at 1,900 meters in a stunning high mountain setting. Its vivid turquoise waters are a key feature of the country's natural and cultural heritage. A national park since 1978, it is home to ancient sites like a thousand-year-old fortress and the world's largest medieval cemetery of early cross-stones (khachkars) and tombstones. The lake supports unique wildlie, including the rare Sevan trout and one of the largest colonies of Armenian Gull (Larus armenicus) in Asia Minor. The lake is vital for the water supply of nearly three million Armenians.
