Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchen with Matt, I am your host Matt Taylor. Today I am going to show you how to make cornbread, mmm yummy. Cornbread is really easy to make, if I can do it, you can do it, let’s get baking. All right first lets go ahead and preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. And now what we are going to do, is we are going to take one quarter cup of unsalted butter, and we are going to melt this in the microwave, for about 30, 40 seconds until it is nice and melted. All right we will add the melted butter. And now we add one cup of milk, one large egg, and then with a hand mixer or a whisk let’s go ahead and beat these together. Now we add one-fourth cup of granulated sugar, if you want your cornbread to be sweeter, then add a half of a cup, one half tsp. of salt, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and the star of the show, one and one-fourth cup of cornmeal. And now we are going to mix this together, it is going to be pretty lumpy. And then with a spatula let’s scrape the sides. And then give it a little bit of a mix. Let’s go ahead and clean these beaters, all right there we go. Now we take an 8 by 8 pan and I greased it with shortening, or you can spray it with kitchen spray, and let’s go ahead and pour this cornmeal batter in there, cornbread batter. Make sure to get it all out so we are not wasting any of it. Okay and then just go ahead and spread it around. And there we go really easy, and then we bake this in the oven, 400 degrees F. for 25 to 30 minutes until when you poke it with a toothpick it comes out nice and clean. All right when the cornbread comes out of the oven it will look like this, golden brown on the edges, light golden brown on the center, and then you just let it sit and cool for a bit, and you can serve it warm or cold, however you like. All right I am going to come in here and I am going to cut this, into nice pieces. Look at that, awesome. All right our homemade cornbread is done, it was really easy to do, it turned out amazing, you can put whatever you want on it, jelly, butter, honey, whatever you want to do. I am Matt Taylor, this has been another episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, thank you for joining me, as always if you have any questions or comments put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thumbs up, down in the corner, push it.
