Serbia has signed a EUR 2.7 billion agreement with France's Dassault Aviation to purchase 12 new Rafale fighter jets. The deal, witnessed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, marks the largest weapons acquisition by Serbia since its independence in 2006 and represents a major shift in the country’s defence and political orientation.
The agreement, signed in Belgrade by Serbia’s Defence Minister Bratislav Gašić and Dassault Aviation CEO Éric Trappier, includes not only the aircraft but also a comprehensive logistics package, spare engines, and parts. This acquisition is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence.
