On December 31, the year 2024 draws to a close. But it is also day 1,042 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – and at least day 1,042 of Ukraine receiving aid from friendly countries to withstand Moscow's onslaught.
According to data the Kiel Institute has been collecting since January 24, 2022, the U.S. remains the number one supporter of Ukraine to date, with over 88 billion euros worth of military, humanitarian, and financial assistance. But this may soon change. Joe Biden’s presidential term is coming to an end on January 20 and Donald Trump’s stance on aid for Ukraine remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Ukrainian diplomatic strength seems to be in decline.
