Speeding tank car train has to slow for a sharp curve on a CSX mainline. This is a historic Louisville & Nashville Railroad L&N that helped build this small town of Butler, Kentucky. CSX owns the line today that runs from Cincinnati, Ohio to Knoxville, Tennessee. The tracks run right in front of the city offices, post office, businesses and homes. I filmed the downtown buildings and the school that has been converted to apartments. This is my first ever visit here. I waited several hours for a train and I decided to give up. Right when I was leaving I heard a few bleeps on the flashing red end of train device ( FRED ) frequency of 452.9375 so I knew a train was coming soon. Trains operate on 161.370 and I might have heard them call out a nearby signal but I'm not sure. The trains really do go pretty fast through this town of 613. There is a small deli with the tracks right in front. I got an energy drink and some Good N Plenty and noticed their huge knife display. There is also a siding downtown with covered hopper cars that get loaded and then moved by a track mobile which I show. This line still has the older L&N wayside signals but they will be replaced soon. A mixed freight went northbound just before 11:30am and the unit train that I filmed went southbound at 3:12pm. A few miles north of town there is a 44 acre hilly lot alongside the tracks listed for 3 grand an acre. You have to cross the tracks to access it and it has a level crossing and an overhead crossing. There is also a country club north of here that when it was built, its' only access was by rail. It is called Ryland Lakes Country Club and I would really love to film a train there since the tracks run right through the middle of the 492 acre site. Thanks for watching!
