The Expedition:
For those living in the Klang Valley, the Klang River is an integral part of our daily lives, often unnoticed. It’s in the bridges we cross, the views from our apartments, and even the water we drink. The Klang River is an inseparable part of our existence.
To truly appreciate the value of the Klang River, I have initiated a drone expedition. This journey will span over 80km, from the downstream at Port Klang to the City Centre at Masjid Jamek. Along the way, I will capture aerial views of the river and highlight key points of interest along its banks.
Join us as we journey along the Klang River, exploring its rich history and the vibrant communities it supports.
About Klang River:
Once a pristine waterway, the Klang River has been central to the lives of those who settled along its banks, dating back over 4,500 years. The river’s confluence with the Gombak River gave birth to Kuala Lumpur, a name that means "muddy estuary".
Flowing through the heart of Selangor, the Klang River has witnessed the rise of civilizations and the growth of modern Malaysia. From ancient tin mining to today’s urban landscape, the Klang River has shaped the economic and cultural fabric of the region.
From the bustling port of Klang to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Klang River has been a lifeline for centuries. Despite the challenges of pollution and urbanization, efforts are underway to restore the Klang River to its former glory.
