Everybody knows that flower produce nectar to attract pollinators. But did you know that some plants produce nectar outside their flowers? Extrafloral nectaries attract beneficial insects such as ants, ladybugs and wasps. These protect the plants from pests and herbivores in exchange for sweet nectar.
