The conflict in Tigray, Ethiopia has entered its fifth month with no clear end in sight. UNICEF is gravely concerned about the harrowing impact on children. More than one million people have been displaced as clashes continue, and the region remains volatile.
UNICEF Spokesperson, James Elder, has just returned from a mission to Tigray and describes a serious protection crisis for children, with severe and ongoing violations taking place. Children in this region have also been out of school for 13 months now (since March 2020) as a result of conflict and the global COVID-19 pandemic.
