The UK is facing into a skills gap in the sectors rooted in Big Data such as data analytics, bio-informatics and cyber security. The Centre for Advanced Knowledge Engineering (CfAKE) will be built in Downham Market in West Norfolk to create an education and commercial campus of global importance for Big Data related disciplines.
This film outlines why it is so important that the CfAKE is built. It will be a game-changer for the region in raising the aspirations and ambitions of the young people and building a sustainable employment and economic future.
The company behind the development, Downham Market Development (DMD) Limited, will be transforming the old airfield into a state-of-the art campus focusing on developing Big Data and Knowledge Engineering expertise in both education and business.
It’s expected that £300m will be invested in the CfAKE project which will create over 4,500 new permanent jobs and 1,600 temporary construction positions. It will be the first bespoke facility like this in Europe and will include, in partnership with world-leading regional and international universities and organisations, a commercially supported Institute of Data Science as well as business premises for companies looking to expand, relocate or establish a base in the UK.
