Joanna visits with Jeff Lehmkuhler, University of Kentucky Extension Beef Specialist to talk about distillery feedstuff for cattle.
Kentucky’s bourbon industry is growing. This growth has resulted in an increase in availability of byproducts that can be fed to be cattle. These include stillage, syrup, wet distillers grains, and dried distillers grains. These products can provide both energy and protein to beef cattle. It is important to understand the moisture level in these feeds and pay according to nutritional value. Limitations on feeding these products are recommended to avoid digestive and/or metabolic disorders. Beef Bash will be held on September 26 at the Little Ag Research Station in Versailles. UK invites you to join them for tours, research updates and presentations offered throughout the day.
