U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Impact Investors Council (IIC) announced the launch of a multistakeholder initiative, the India Blended Finance Collaborative (IBFC), which will work with a diverse base of commercial, philanthropic, and public stakeholders to discuss, improve and increase the use of blended finance approaches to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
Blended finance is the combination of public and philanthropic funds with commercial capital to create, fund, and scale innovative development solutions, such as improving education, agriculture, healthcare, climate mitigation, and more.
The IBFC will serve as a forum to share views and research about the principles, techniques, and applications of blended finance. In addition, the IBFC will publicly showcase the opportunity for blended finance to make a positive social impact through innovation and collaboration.
