Nokia ‘P’ smartphone running on Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM
Nokia, the iconic phone maker brand is set for a re-entry into the competitive market of smartphones early next year. The company is doing this in association with HMD Global, which will be manufacturing the phones under Nokia branding. New Nokia-branded phones from HMD are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2017.
According to latest leaks on China’s Weibo, and reported by Pocket-Lint, the company may be planning to develop a new Android smartphone called the‘Nokia P’. Based on the leaked photos and specifications, Nokia P will sport 6GB RAM and will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset. The phone is expected to feature a 23MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and come with Quad HD display resolution.Nokia P has top of the line features, which would certainly fit the bill for a premium flagship smartphone. But it is unlikely that this phone it will be launching during the first quarter of next year.
Nokia D1C is expected to be one of the first smartphones to come out of the new HMD and Nokia partnership, which will likely be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Specifications of the D1C have been leaked several times, but recent reports suggest it will come in two variants – 2GB RAM version priced at $150 (approx. Rs 10,000) and 3GB RAM variant priced at $200 (approx. Rs 13,000).
D1C is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor along with an Adreno 505 GPU, and running on Android 7.0 Nougat. It is also expected to come in two screen sizes – 5 and 5.5-inch.India will be playing a key role for Nokia in the new phase of the company’s journey, according to HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela. “We want to be successful (in India) and we will also tailor our offerings not only for feature phones, but for smartphones for Indian consumers,” Nummela had said in an interview to PTI.
