'Water Fight' Breaks Open in Taiwan's Parliament as MPs Spar Over Bill | Vantage with Palki Sharma

A brawl broke out inside the Taiwanese Parliament on Friday, December 20, over bills allegedly being considered as a "threat to the democracy". The members of Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) had occupied the podium of the Parliament's main chamber on Thursday night, and blocked the entrances by piling up chairs, in order to block the bills proposed by the opposition party, Kuomintang (KMT). As KMT lawmakers tried to break open into the Parliament, a brawl broke out, with lawmakers resorting to spraying water at and physically confronting each other by pushing, kicking and using chairs.
