A collegiate soccer player is rehabbing from a left-sided anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and meniscus repair. He is in mid-phase 3 of his rehabilitation and performed this exercise at the end of his treatment session.
He performed the single-leg box drops and hold from a 12-inch box. Before participating in higher-level soccer training, he must improve his loading capacity and mechanics. Initially, there was a deficit in the depth of hip and knee flexion and dorsiflexion on the left side compared to his uninjured right side. With proper cueing, there was noticeable improvement, and while not 100%, he is headed in the right direction!
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based, not time-based.
