(ABC 6 News) — RCTC Women’s Basketball continues to be the most dominant D-III force in the entire NJCAA following Saturday’s 108-30 obliteration of Ridgewater College. The number-one-ranked Yellowjackets are now 16-0 with seven games remaining on the docket.
The victory over the warriors marks the fourth time this year the Yellowjackets have scored over 100 points. However, the team remains as level-headed as ever with intentions to finish what they couldn’t a year ago. The goal of reaching and winning the NJCAA D-III Championship on their own turf.
“Our coach and even ourselves, we try not to think of ourselves as the number one team in the nation, just a really good team that everyone wants to beat,” sophomore guard Ravyn Miles stated. “So, I think that just having that mindset and playing like we’re not –losing isn’t an option for us that we just go.”
“I’m going to have to say our additions to our team, three new players and also just — I don’t know, I think this year, the practices have been looking a lot better,” fellow sophomore guard Myia Ruzek added. “I feel like we’ve been competing more and just getting better every day at practice.”
“No matter who we’re playing, where we’re playing,” head coach Jason Bonde said. “They’ve taken the right mindset of, ‘Okay, this is what we need to do, this is where we need to get better, this is where we have to keep excelling at.’ And they’ve done a good job of doing that.”
