One of the largest Sport Compact style drag racing events on the planet, the FuelTech World Sports Compact Challenge IX, held at Orlando Speed World recently, featured so many standout rides. One car that caught our eye was this crazy little 1982 Toyota Starlet campaigned by the Bollinqui Racing team. The car was competing in the Hot Rod class meaning it was on a 28x10.5 tyre and piloted by gun rookie driver Camilo Velez.
Power comes from a Semi-PP 13B rotary engine featuring Australian manufactured BilletPro front and rear plates, fed via a 91mm Garrett turbocharger. Still on moderate boost levels, as this was the Starlet’s debut event, over the course of 4 days the engine didn’t miss a beat, the only teething problems were trying to keep the body panels attached!
After a highly successful event, we look forward to seeing the team progress event further from here.
