The uncommon Pluteus atromarginatus (Blackedged Shield) is a very interesting Deer Mushroom. Some books say that it's rare. I have found it a few times. It has a dark brown cap, sometimes almost black. Unlike most Pluteus species it has 'marginate' gills (the edges are dark/black). Another distinguishing feature is its preference for conifer wood (this one was found on Pinus wood) .
Another species that also has marginate gills is Pluteus umbrosus, but it's found on deciduous wood instead .
Pluteus tricuspidatus, Pluteus nigrofloccosus are both synonyms of Pluteus atromarginatus. In the past it was considered a variety or subspecies of Pluteus cervinus, so other synonyms are Pluteus cervinus var. atromarginatus and Pluteus cervinus subsp. atromarginatus.
Black-edged Pluteus is also a common name. Common names in other languages: Plutée à arêtes noires, Schwarzschneidiger Dachpilz.

Caution ! Don't try to identify mushrooms only by watching photos or videos. Often there are poisonous lookalikes. Do your own research, never eat a wild mushroom without 100% certainty of what species it is.
