Aerial fire units were seen carrying out airdrops on the Route Fire burning near Castaic, California, as it grew to over 4,600 acres on the evening of August 31 and was zero percent contained, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Mandatory evacuations and road closures were in effect for the area, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office said.
According to local media citing officials, at least eight firefighters “suffered heat-related injuries” while battling the blaze.
