On this episode of Expressions, we take a look at the high rate of drug usage amongst South African youth. Just last month, we celebrated World Drug Month under the theme People First: stop stigma and Discrimination, strengthen prevention. Now we know drug abuse is a complex issue that affects millions of young people worldwide and in South Africa. Many of our young who use drugs often face stigma and discrimination, which can further harm their physical and mental health and prevent them from accessing the help that they need. The facts are sobering - and the South African Anxiety and Depression Group said 12 years old - was the average age for drug dependency in South Africa.
