In 1986, ITV commissioned Rod Argent (formerly of The Zombies) to write a theme tune for their coverage of the World Cup in Mexico. He came up with this piece, called "Aztec Gold". It proved popular, and was subsequently borrowed by Saint & Greavsie, a weekly football magazine programme hosted by Ian St John and Jimmy Greaves, that ran until 1992. Rod Argent also wrote the theme to ITV's "The Match".
