THE TEMPLE OF GARNI, ARMENIA (Храм Гарни, Армения). A 1st century Greco-Roman temple built during the reign of King T'rdat I of Armenia sometime around 70-80 A.D. The temple remarkably survived the destruction of pagan temples following Armenia's conversion to Christianity. It survived countless invasions & earthquakes until it collapsed in 1679. The temple was left in ruins for hundreds of years until it was reconstructed between 1969-1975.
Situated on a cliff overlooking the Geghama mountains, the Temple of Garni attracts millions of visitors all over the world.
