The creative industries have been particularly hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, their role in promoting diversity and inclusion in society, spurring development and boosting income and employment opportunities remain more relevant than ever.
In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity and the International Year of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, UNESCO has brought together prominent artists and cultural professionals to discuss about the need to invest in creativity in these critical times and how we can place arts at the forefront of the post-pandemic recovery.
This ResiliArt debate is also a call for voluntary contributions towards the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), a funding mechanism established by UNESCO. Every year, through an open call, the IFCD finances projects on the development of policies for creativity and capacity-building in the cultural and creative industries.
