It sounds impossible. In fact, it sounds like an oxymoron. Self denial that leads to joy? In this episode we take a look at Mark 8:34-35 where Jesus gives a command to those who wish to follow him. The command is "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it". How can it be? What does it mean to lose your life for the sake of Christ and the gospel? And how does that lead to joy?
